MIDNIGHT KNITTER

Quick to knit and fun to carry around.  This little guy (or girl if you knit in girly colors) is made of soft sock yarn.

Use the variegated yarn to create the stripes easily.  The whole doll is made by knitting eight rectangles and sewing them together to create the body, arms and legs.

1 ball Regia Sock Yarn  6ply
color: eskimo 5401
US 3 & Crochet Hook D
Crochet the head, feet and hands with the left over tan color to mock skin tone.  Keep the tan color aside as you work the pattern.
BODY AND LIMBS
make ( 6 ) six
- cast on 11 sts
- stockinette stitch for 26 rows, bind off.
(when you encounter the tan color, cut yarn and save the tan color yarn for hands, feet and head.  join next color where you left off)

SEW BODY AND LIMBS
-
MAKE LIMBS - turn 4 of these rectangles into tubes by stitching together along the longer side (do not stitch together the ends of the tube)

- MAKE BODY - stitch together 2 rectangles (WS together) on both long sides and one short end.  Leave top open, stuff with some leftover yarn.  Close top (neck area) by stringing yarn through bind off sts and loosely gathering it closed. (it should end up a bit lumpy, but you will be picking up sts for the crochet head)

- sew legs on straight across bottom  (do not sew them on like a tube, flatten the leg and stitch through both sides onto the body)
- sew arms by first stringing yarn through body, leaving a long tail on both sides.  Then sew each arm onto body close to the neck.
